Public Participation Overview

Camino MeadowThere were many opportunities to be involved with the Upper American River Project (UARP) relicensing process whether by attending meetings, or participating in one of the Technical Working Groups.  All parties interested in the process were invited to get involved. Active participation enhanced the many aspects of this public process and helped bring about equitable solutions.

UARP LakeThe Sacramento Municipal Utility District's (SMUD) Alternative Licensing Procedures (ALP) process ended on July 15, 2005 with submittal of the Upper American River Project (UARP) License Application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).  Under FERC regulations once a license application is submitted, the ALP ends.  However, settlement negotiations (and FERC-assisted dispute resolution process) continue on the UARP relicensing to reach a settlement agreement.

Many stayed informed by adding their names to SMUD’s UARP relicensing mailing list and received SMUD’s UARP relicensing newsletter and special notices of Public Information Meetings and the availability of major documents for review. In addition, extensive information about relicensing activities – including meeting agendas and summaries – could be obtained by clicking into the appropriate areas of this relicensing site.
